' The Huddart-Pnrker liner Ulimaroa, which is leaving to-morrow for Wellington direct, has been fitted during her stay in port with, a complete wireless telegraphy installation. She is the first steamer; trading between New Zealand, and Australia to bo so equipped.

The system adopted is the typo known as the "Singing Spark," which has been installed in' a large number of vessels trading to "South America, Africa, the United States, and Japan. Somo exceptional records havp been achieved with it. The capacity of tho stations will bo two kilowats, which represents a very small factor of the' total energy of tho generators with which the steamers are fitted. Vessels fitted, with similar apparatus have exchanged 'communication in the day time over (iSO miles, and- at night time over 1300 miles. Tho Kivorina and tho Ulimaroa will havo Tooms set apart /for tho wireless rooms on the boat decks. Tho operators will be members of tho crows, who will be instructed in the.wcrk.
