CASE AGAINST THE COAL VEND.
INJUNCTION ASKED FOR. DETAILS OF THE COMMONWEALTH CLAIM. UNION COMPANY'S POSITION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. August 27, 0.45 a.ra,) Melbourne, August 26. Tho details of the action taken by tho Commonwealth Government against tho alleged coal and shipping combines havo been published. Tho statement of claim sots out the Coal Vend agreement, and claims that each and every one of tho defendants havo been guilty of offences against the Anti-Trust Act, and asks that they shall bo convicted, and for each and every one of their offences pay a penalty of £500, or such sum as the Court thinks proper. It is further requested that an injunction bo issued restraining the defendants' from .repeating or continuing such offences, or carrying out the contract, or contracts, and combination or combinations, they have. entered into. The legal representative, of the shipping companies states that he not only represents the companies mentioned in tho action already initiated against tho Coal Vend and the shipping companies, but also the. Union Company, against whom the Commonwealth will proceed if successful in the initial action.
