UNSOBER ON THE JURY.
POSSIBLY MORE TO FOLLOW. At the opening of the Supremo Court * yesterday morning, before Mr. Justice Chapman, reference was made to an occurrence of ttie previous day, when, during tho hearing (in camera) of' a divorce case, a member of the jury turned up, after lunclieou. adjournment, apparently in a state of intoxication, necessitating tho adjournment of tho case, and the taking into custody of the juror in question. Mr. Robert Fletcher (foreman of the jury) expressed the regret of himself and his fellow-jurors at the unfortunate incident of tho previous 'afternoon, which had caused inconvenience. to the ' Court, , and upset its arrangements. The members of tho jury regretted that one of their number should have misbehaved himself in such a manner, and ho desired, to state that tho juror in question was deeply sensible of bis offence. The jury had confidence that the. Court would treat this t lapse as leniently as was compatible with the circumstances. ■■; His Honour thanked the foreman for what he bad said in reference to this extremely unfortunate subject... He was not decided as to what he would do regarding the matter, but in tho meantime he had notified the juror's solicitor (Mr. O'llegan) that some- ' thing might have to be said about it at the dose.of tho trial. It was'quitepossible that the mere monetary loss to the parties ill the case might bo s
quite considerable, quite apart from the inconvenience caused.in other respects.
