TRANSFER. APPLICATIONS. A report was received from tho Crown Lands Ranger on Mrs. M. V. Matthews's application to transfer Section 15, Block 11, Kairanga, Aorangi Settlement, to' Mr. R. A. M'Farland, and it was resolved to recommend same on the usual conditions. "A Teport was received' from the Crown Lands Ranger on Mr. J .W. Curlcy's application to transfer.Section. 11, Block Xll, Maungakaretu, to Wm. Cleaver, and it was resolved, to refuse the transfer.
A report was received from. the Crown Lands Ranger on W. and R: Cleaver's application to transfer Section 3, Block XV, Maun.gakaretu, to-Riohard Cleaver. It was •resolved to recommend on the usual conditions, r -■
A report was received from the Croun Lands Ranger on Wm. Cleaver's application 'to transfer Section 13, Block XV, Maungakaretu," to Mrs. A. S. Cleaver. It was resolved to recommend on the usual conditions.
With reference to the proposed transfer of Section 81, Manunui V.S., from Mr. M. Clarkiu to Mr. T. J. Peniray, the partios wrote stating that tho doctor could not give the certificate required by tho board, and asked that the matter be reconsidered under these circumstances. It was resolved to recommend the transfer as soon as the provision requiring two years' residence, has been complied with. Mrs; E. J. Diamond applied to transfer Section 32, Ohaltune V.S., to Mr. H. H. Hope." It was,resolved to obtain a report from- the Crown Lands Ranger as to the bona",fldcs of the application, and'why no improvements have been effected.
- Mrs; E. A. Ireland applied to transfer Section 24, Block- V, Mt. Cerberus, to Mr. R. Howie. Consideration was postponed untiljnext- meeting.
Mr, 0. A. Macdonald, Section 17, Block XI, Hautapu, applied, to transfer to Mrs. M. .Gorringe. It was resolved to.recommend, the Commissioner and Mr. Dawson dissenting. <• . -" ■ ■.•' -'
, In reference to the transfer of Section 14, Block 111, Kaitieke, from Mr. W. Armstrong to Mr. H. Woods, it was. resolved to .recommend same on the production of a doctor's certificate as to Mr. Armstrong's ill-health, ■
"APPLICATIONS ANIL FORFEITURES. , : .Miss O'Neill wrote'*with reference to .her non-residence on Section 1, Block IV, Waipakura, and the, board's notice, calling upon her to 6how cause why 7 her interest should not- be declared forfeited. It was resolved to dispense with the balance ofthe term of residence, hut to draw Miss O'Neill's-attention to Section 174 of . the Act of 1908, which will militate .against her obtaining a freehold title at a" future date. - Tho commissioner dissented from dispensing with residence . Mr. R. Jackson wrote with reference to' tho forfeiture of his interest in Section--30, Block VIII, .Manganui. It was resolved to proceed with the-forfeiture. . With, reference to the proposed forfeiture of Mr. F. Packer's interest in ■ Section 1, Block 11, Mt. Cerberus, postponed from last meeting, it was resolved that on payment of £29, an account of back rent overdue, being made forthwith the. forfeiture be postponed to next meeting. : Mr. D. O'Shea, lessee of Section 2, Block I, Hunua, wrote : with reference to the board's notice calling upon him to show cause why his, interest should 1 not bo declared forfeited for nonresident on the Eection. It was resolved that he must be in bona fide residence, on the land within three months' time, otherwise his interest in the'section will be forfeited. '. •A report was received on Mr. James Hamilton's non-residence' oh Section 5, Block IV, Waipakura, from which it appeared, that the selector-lived with 'his parents on an adjoining section, having met with an accident some years ago. It , was resolved to ■ advise the selector that this would-be. accepted as sufficient in the meantime, but to point out that it might not be considered compliance with the ■Act 30 far as any future application to obtain ,the freehold title or to transfer the section is concerned. A report was received from' the Crown Lands Ranger on the residenco of Mr. James Belliss's 'on Section 74, Toihapo V.S., from which it appeared that Mr. f n en W \ mi *X' l his original V.S.- Section 19, Block XIV,' Taihape, now made freehold. It was resolved to accept this as satisfactory in the meantime. It was'resolved to declare the interest of Messrs. Stewart .and Thompson in Section 45, Block VIII, Belmont, Normandale Settlement, foifcited >for non-compliance with the conditions-of. the Act at the re-I quest of Mr. Thompson 'and the Public" Trustee, acting for Mr.- Stewart. ■Mr. T. Cameron applied to be allowed to surrender his year-to-year occupation permit for part of Section. 8, Block V, Karioi, ■as he is compelled to leave the district. It was resolved to approve subject to his paying tho arrears of rental, £1. Mr. J..Sanders wrote in reply to the boards notice of forfeiture of Section 20, Block XX, Manganui, It was resolved to declare his interest forfeited for lion-coni-l/liance with the conditions of the Act, but to withhold the gazetting of .tho same m tho meantime,' . .
A report was received from the Crown Lands Banger to the effect that Urs. K. I. Lockyer 'was not residing on Section 1, Block XI, Kaitieke. It was resolved to declare her interest forfeited.' Mr. C. A. Jl'Donald wrote stating that he was unable to tako up his residence on bection 19, Block I, Kakahi V.S.. by the end of last month as promised on account of an accident which he met with on the tram line, but will proceed to tho section and begin the house at'.onco. It was resolved that ho must be in residenco within one .month.
n Mr. Thos. Hellter, the selector of Section 80, Manu'nm V.S., wrote in reply to the board's notice' asking for an explanation as to his non-residence, stating that he was unable to get suitable work at Jlanunui, and had arranged to sell out. It was resolved to tako no further action for six months.
Mr. E. B. Milne, the licensee of Section 17, Block XIV, Manganui, wrote* with reference to his non-residence on the section. It was resolved to postpone consideration until next meeting. . Mr, W. Davidson, tho selector of Section 7, Block XII, Whirinaki, applied for permission to ,do double improvements tho second year instead of doing tho first year's improvements this year, owing to tho bad access to the section, etc. It was resolved to grant his request. It was resolved to forfeit Mr. James Shear's interest in Section 97, Block. VIII, Belindht, Normandalo Settlement,' at his own request, tho forfeiture.to take place when tho rental is 60 days in arrcar. Mr. L. Meyer, the selector of Sections 19 and 16, Block X; Manganui, applied for a few months' further extension of time in which' to take up his residence, as ho had only just recovered from an accident. It was resolved to grant him until November 30 next to take up his permanent residence under tho circumstances.
Mr. Jas. Oroft, the selector of part 11 of Section 8, Block XIV, Mangnhao, M'KcnzioV.S., wrote with reference to his non. residence on the section. It was resolved that he must resido on the section ..vithin six months or have his interest' forfeited. .It was resolved to forfeit the interest of Mrs. Ellen Elmonds in Block VIII, Belmont, Normandalo Settlement, at her own request. Mrs. M. J. O'Connor wrote on behalf of herself and son (Mr. G. Baxter) in reference to their non-residence on Section 15, Block 11, Maungakaretu. It was resolved that cither she or her son miist reside It was resolved to approve of Messrs Stevens Bros: and M'Pherson being granted a license to occupy Section 121, Manunui Suburbs, aa a site for a sawmill, under Section 307 of *Uc Land Act. 1908. at a rent of £3 per annum, subject to tho inuM conditions, Term, three years. • ■
It was resolved to approve Mr. Norman Matthews being granted a licence "to'occupy from year to year under Section 130 of the Land Act, 19C-8, the' Crown lands lying to the west of Euaraahanga. Hivor, and between Crown grant boundary and lowest level tubes, at a rent of £1 per annum, subject to usual conditions, to three months' 'notice of determination, and to the right of the commissioner to grant shooting permits over the land during the shooting season.
Block XIII, Ohinewairua, a forfeited improved farm section: It waa resolved to approve this section being rooffered under Part 111 of the "Land "Act, 1908, as first-class land at a price of about £5 IBs. per acre, weighted with : £177 10s. '. for improvements. Mr. Robert A. Wilson applied on behalf .' of the Eangataua Timber Company for permission to cut the timber on a- strip ■. one chain wide l>y 60 chains length on '. the boundaries of Section 2, Block V, ' Karioi, with the object of erecting boun- . dary fences. Tho timber expert, havingappraised the Quantities of -timber, the ■• board resolved to approve Mr. Wilson s application on payment of the . royalties assessed by the timber expert. t Mrs. A. K'Oulloch applied for a permit . to occupy an area of about a quarter of . an acre of Crown land on the south bank of tho Houtapu River, immediately north of Block IV, Mataroa township. The board -; approved the permit at an annual rental of £1, on the usual conditions, for tha purpose of conducting a boardinghouse. Mr. W. H. Stretton applied for a piece of •. Crown land about six and a half acres in ■.. area between tho road and railway to tho ' ■ south of Kakahi. The board resolved to ; offer Mr. Stretton a temporary permit to . occupy the area at an annnal rental of £2 10s., and subject to the s usual. conditions.
The Commissioner-reported that.a., sumof £70 2s. Sd. had been received.for improvements effected on Sections ■ 363,: 367, 368. The Commissioner' reported, that a sum of £85 15s. had been.received 'for.'improv* ments 1 effected- on Section, 13; 'Block X, Manganui, and ;it. was .resalvcd : to deduct £1 10s. costs'for roofforing and to pay the balance to such' person as shall -bo found t»be entitled thereto. '.

Miss L. Itintz applied for the" freehold' title of her Section 22, Block Til, Tiriraukawa, 200 acres, anft it was. resolved to obtain a report from the Crown Lands Hanger as to residence. '.'■"■':'■" >." The Rev. J. 3. Pendray gave notice of his intention to purchase the fee simple of Section 32, Jfanunui V.S., 1 acre, in terms of Section 177 of the Land Act. 1908. It was resolved to appoint Mr. H. Lundius to make the necessary valuation.
With regard to S.G.R. 107 and 108,- Block. VII, Kopuaranga-, it was resolved to re- ■• ■ scind the resolution passed on July 28 last. on S.G.R. 88/55, and to postpone consideration as to the manner In which this run is to-be' dealt with until a later meeting of the board.
