Sir,—Mr. It' Caw's response to ray letter is apparently written in misapprehension of tlie point -under discussion, aiul the major portion, should have dealt rather with your leader than my letter. The only part of his. letter , dealing . with mine lis- his quip that the Church puts its ear to the "cross." Now, the "cross" is just how we take it, what we make it, and we all make it something a little different to each other. If the cross be •studied in/other than the light of human nature, it will fail, and lead to an,estrangement between the Church and the people. The difference between Miv Af'C'aw and myself is that he travels on his own vision of the cross. I keep my ear to the ground in the study of human nature, and see it in the light of that and that is all I claimed' for Sir.. Ward. —1' am, N etc, ■' HENRY BODLEY, August 22, 1910.
