CITY COUNCIL.
■NOTICES OP MOTION. At this evening's meeting of the City Council the Mayor will move (pro forma): —(a) That the resolution passed at the meeting of. the council held on July 11, 1910, having reference to the purchase hy the council from the trustees of tho lato H. D. Crawford's estate of 20 acres of land at Lyall Bay, at i.'lßO per aero (subject to a right of access through same), and tho taking over of i acres adjoining from tho said trustees for road purposes, . the road to bo formed by the council at its own cost, be rescinded. (b) That for the purposes of a recreation ground ior tho, city, the council- purchase from the ; said trustees 21 acres (more or less) of land at Lyall Bay, immediately adjoining tho land recently acquired by the council from the said trustees, and, extending eastwards to the rocks at the end of the beach, and southwards to ifigh-water mark, without any restriction as to access, road formation, or otherwise, at a price to bo mutually agreed upon between the council and tho 1 trustees, or in the alternative, (c) That tho council forthwith tako under Tho Public Works Act, 1908, such 21 acres of land (or such other area as the council'may decide), for the purposes of a recreation ground for tho city. Councillor Shirtcliffe will niove:"Thnt applications for the position of superintendent of the Wellington Zoological Gardens bo advertised for in tho principal Australian and New Zealand papers."
