Daniells, J. G. Harkne-ss, 0. Jones, H. C. Teivsley, and W. S. Hildreth. Leave of absence was granted Messrs. T. M. Wilford, T. Kennedy Macdonald, and J. W: M'Ewaii. ; . I The Wharves and Accounts Committee, recommended the board to redeposit with the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., for two years, the sum of £10,000, maturing -August 28; to resciad the. resolution of the hoard of May 27 ; 1910, relative to t-ho agreement with the Wellington Patent Slip Company, Limited, regarding tho defined area and consent to reclamation at Evans Bay, and that tho modified agreement, now submitted bo adopted and tho seal of ( tho board affixed'to tho necessary documents. .. The report was adopted. • " Payments amounting to £21,327 6s. sd. were approved. '. THE £500,000 LOAN. Tho order paper boro tho following motion standing in tho name of Mr. Harkness:-— ■ "After consideration of'tho correspondence laid ; before members of tho board in reference to the proposed loan of £500,000 in London during July, 1909, and the subsequent discussions thereon, the board reaffirms tho resolution of July 6, 1909:—'That tho National Bank of New Zealand, Limited, be instructed to cable to its London offico that the Hon. T. Kennedy Macdonald has no authority'in I 'any way to represent, the Wellington' Harbour Board financially, and that the offer conveyed by bank's cable of June 28 bo declined, the board not requiring money at-present. , " Mr. Harkness said he found himself in a difficult position that night in connection with this notice of motion. If the. chairman approved, he would liko to simply movo it, and reserve his right of speaking to it at the next meeting of tho board, when members then absent were present.' It was ultimately agreed that : tho motion "be allowed to stand over .until next meeting. .",■■...-. • : ELECTRIC CRANES. • The chairmau reported from tho. board in committee that ono tender had been received for asphalting tho floor in "J" shed. It was decided that this bo accepted if found in order. It was : also decided that alternative tenders invited from' selected British firms for the supply of four electric travelling cranes, with and without four electric hoists, for the equipment of tho "J" wool store, and that tenders bo also invited ■■locally'for tho supply of four hoists alone.
