' EUGENICS SOCIETY FORMED. . .. <By Telegraph;--l'ress. Association.), Dunedin, August 22. Ahout fifty ladies and gentlemen prominent in religious, scientific, and philanthropic circles met at the Town Hall tonight for the purpose of forming a New Zealand branch of'the Loudon Eugenics Education Society. Mr. J. 'H. Walker (ohairmau of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board) presided. Mr. Grinling (editor of "Outlook") explained tho objects of the'society, and Dr". Benham dealt with the subjects of parenthood, heredity, and environment from "a biological point of view. Canon Curzon-Siggers. urged that science demanded that the insane, weakminded, and diseased should cease to produce their like. He advocated a curfew system, and .the adult guardianship of children abroad in the streets after (lark. Dr. Siedeberg and Mr. H. D. Bedford also made speeches. A branch of the societywas formed, and a council was appointed.
