MR NINE AND THE LAND FOR SETTLEMENTS ACT.
Sir, —The exceptional notoriety that. Dr. Gibb recently gave to Mr. Hugh Ward and his "Girl from Rector's" Company is as nothing when compared with tho excellent adiertisemont. that has been afforded tho member for Stratford, Mr. Hino, by Mr. Joseph M'Cluggage, J.P., Government nominee on tho Tnranaki Land Board, and' prospective candidate for Mr. Hine's seat at the next general. election. It is simply futile for Mr. M'Cluggage to quibble about words and phrases. The point made by Mr: Hino in the House, and corroborated by the «'xper:enco of tlio prospective selectors of tho Huinga and Mata Mata Estates, was that, tlio Land for Settlement's Act ais : administered . is.- decidedly in favour .'of the nich as against the. poor man. Any' further bickering on tho part of Mr. M'Cluggage only, serves to clench the nail that the energetic member for Stratford has so ably driven—l am, '■;':: .'. , disinterested. •
