NATIONAL PICTURES. The National Pictures and the ChronoMegaplione entertained large and appreciative audiences in the Opera House on. Saturday afternoon and evening. The most popular'feature, of the programme wore the clu-qno-mcgaplione. versions of songs by Harry Lauder. These worn surprisingly human and life-like, and created a great doaWof laughter. For a community that is not granted an opportunity of hearing this famous comedian, records like these are no mean substitute. "Stop Your Ticklin', Jock,'! "The Saftest of the Family" (encored), and "1 Love ' a Lassie" were comprised in this fine selection of Lauder records. Tho programme also included some high-class moving pictures, a particularly good example being- one recently, taken .'on the Wangaqui Riypr for Pathe. Frercs, The National Pictures and the' ChrorioMcgaphone are billed again for to-night, when four now items will bo given. THEATRE ROYAL. On Saturday evening tho curtain wa3 rung down for "the. last time on the excellent programme of vaudeville entertainment which provided such agreeable relaxation ".to ' patrons of the Theatre Royal, last week.' Tho "Four Valdares" appeared for their last time on. Saturday night in' their 'skilful comedy act.' .Among :the.new' acts announced for . to-night is '"Kwles " and his' performing animals, including the wonderful educated pony "Fits." Thursday evening next, will be observed an "amateur" iniglit, when those who can do any ..".turns" .will.be invited to attend a rehearsal in the morning, and perform in the evening. . .-...• ' ■ ' ' HIS MAJESTY'S.'. His Majesty's Theatre''.on Saturday evening attracted a large share of patronage, and 3'fine selection of picture's was received with evident ■ approval. Prominent in the week's programme is the picture "A Da-ring Performance," which depicts a lion-tamer at work with over twenty lions and lionesses. A ■number of splendid scenic films find a place in the programme, and it is further strengthened with a bright selection of dramatic subjects' and comicmasterpieces. Tho same pictures; will be,shown this evening. .' .'",.' • ■ ■ ' : KING'S THEATRE. .' "When Knighthood was in .Flower" is-.decidedly the : "star" attraction at tho King's Theatre this week'. It is coloured in beautiful tints and .replete with interesting scenes and stirring incidents. Travel pictures of unusual merit, thrilling picture dramas, and a popular assortment of comic film 6 combine- to form a programme that on Saturday evening, as oh previous occa-! sio'ns, was received with approval by a large audience. The excellent programme of the Star Pictures, which had' been running throughout the week, was repeated with success on Saturday, at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown. 'the Olympia -Rink continued to have an extraordinary vogue among amusement seekers, each session of the "day being well attended. Amongst the many novelties introduced into' the production is the wonderful acrobatic act. of Price and Revost. RECITAL, ".' The City Organist (Mr., Maughan Barnett) gave a delightful organ recital at the Town Hall on Saturday evening. Lovers of organ music—and there is quite an enthusiastic little band in Wellington—will welcome the advent of the ■ Municipal' Orchestra,'-now an assured, thing, -if- it only servos' the purposes of .'attracting large . audiences to hear .the city's 'fine'organ, played by an organist-who perhaps'has no superior -in:' Australasia. " On' Saturday evening, Mr.. Barnett played Chopin's profoundly impressive >' "March Funebre," which'ho succeeded in investing with deep feeling slid reverential stateliness. Bach, the' Homer of organ composers,' was represented, jby his "Prelude and Fugue im C Mpi'or"; Handel ny his-charming Minuet in "G;" most delicately played; Guilmant by his "Sonata in D Minor" ;'■ Dubois, by the celestial '"In Fnradisum"; Sibelitis by an "Audalitino, 1 ' and Weoley by a Prelude (offertoiro).
