I refer to the sudden and tragic death of Mr. J. J. Devine. I was deeply grieved to read in the morning papers of this, very sad occurrence, and we shall all miss his wellknown, figure and genial disposition in this : Court. \ Mr. Devine was a wellknown and prominent' member of . the legal profession, and as a citizen he took an active part in all those public matters which; are the. proper concern of all good, and useful citizens. To those of us who remember him when he was in good health and good spirits, it, seems almost impossible that'he has'passed away, but. he has been called, and is now no more. I am sure that all citizens who recognise the public services rendered by Mr. Devine, and all members of the legal -'pro-: fession, will extend their deep and heartfelt sympathy to those who were near, and dear to him, and who have been left sorrowing, by his decease."
