DEFICIENCY, .£6l 25.. 7d. There was no quorum present at the meetings of creditors in the estate of Editlr 8.-Vaughan,' stationer, which was to have been held beforo the Official Assignee (Mr. A. Simpson) yesterday, and tho -proceedings were adjourned sine The bankrupt, with her solicitor (Mr. Dix), and Mr. Dunn, solicitor of the petitioning creditors (Messrs. Gordon and Gotck), were .the only persons present. Some difference of opinion arose when Mr. Dunn asserted that he had a right to ask certain questions. Tho Assignee disagreed, Mr. Simpson remarking that this could not be done in tho absence of the creditors represented by Mr. Dunn. The meeting, further, had been already adjourned. Mr. Dix said that ho had no. objection to interrogations on certain points. This was agreed to, the proceedings being of a private nature. In her sworn statement, the bankrupt set forth that she was a married woman, residing with her husband. Her difficulties had arisen through helping lier husband with his business, and getting her business mixed up with his.' She had lent him over .£BO, and had lost it all. There were only three- creditors in tho estate:—Messrs. Gordon and Gotch, . £68 18s. Id.; Klicn, judgment summons, .£ls, with costs added; Empiro Loan Company, ,Cl(i 10s. Tho estimated deficiency was set down at £U 2s. 7d. The bankrupt added that sho was at present secretary of the Tailoresses' Union, receiving 355. per weok, and was also employed in a stationery business at 10s. per week. Sho had had to keep-the family of late, as her j-in'W.d's earnings had not been sufficient
