WHEN THE NEWS WILL AEEOT The sculling championship of the world will be contested by Richard Arnet (the present holder), of Now Zealand, and Ernest Barry, of England, on the Zambesi Kiver (Central Africa) to-morrow. At what tirno to-morrow has not so far been made clear, but one assumes that the race would not be left until later than 3.30 p.m., as with the dusk and' the. disappearance of the sun rises the deadly malaria-choked miasma, which has already laid Arnst's trainer (Jlr. • Harry Floyd) to one side. Wellington is something like 91 hours ahead of Cape Town, and about the same ahead of Livingstone (three miles away from the river and the nearest telegraph office). Therefore, if the race is rowed at 3 p.m., the news should reach here between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Friday. The cable message conveying the news will travel from Liningstone to Wellington via Capo Town, Mauritius, Rodriguez Island, Cocos Island, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, and Wakapuaka,
