Mr. William Corrie Jchnstoni a wellknown evangelist mid co-workei with Moody and Sankoy in America and the United Kingdom, died at his residence, New town, on Sunday morning, in his sixtythird year. Mr. Johnston came to New Zealand from Scotland about 28 years ago owing to failing health, and he conducted missions in Dunedin, Christchurch, and other centres. J'or smno time pasi kv had been writing a series of books on evangelistic subjects. He leaves a widow and three children.

Captain 11. J. S. Seddon, of the Headquarters Staff,, is at present in Nelson, inspecting a now rifle range.

For one commission ho was on the surveying ship Penguin! Later ho was on board H.M.S. Prometheus. In London recently he passed his first-class navigation examination with honours.

Mr. Charles Schilsky, who is the examiner for tho Trinity College of Music, London, in Canada,,, New Zealand, and Tasmania this year, arrived at Auckland' by the Mahcno on Sunday. .

The witnesses selected by the Auckland Tramways Union to give evidence at Wellington regarding the Government's Tramway Bill are Messrs. A. Eosser (secvetavv) and Henry Carter. The selection of witnesses on behalf of the City Council will bo considered by the Electrical Committee to-day.
