ASSOCIATION.
MATCHES POSTPONED. Owing .to tho unpropitious weather on Saturday it was decided to declare all Association matches off. There were only two senior matches set down for decision, the A and B trial match; and the Y.M.C.A.-Thistle Charity Cup fixture. Some disappointment was expressed that the Postponement Committee did not play off this latter fixture because it practically means a Saturday wasted, and three senior teams will be without a game until one of these two teams are defeated, BROWN SHIELD MATCH. BOTH TEAMS CHOSKtf. Messrs. A. Williarns .T. Paton,' and ll..Mayer have selected the following team to represent Wellington in the forthcoming Brown Shield match Otago v. Wellington, which, is to be played on tho Basin .'Reserve on Saturday next, August 20, wlien half the proceeds arc-' to bo handed over'to the Children's Hospital- scheme:—C. Webster (Ramblors), goal; AV. Roberts (Diamonds), right back; P. iCornish (Olympic), left back; M. Kirschberg (Swifts), right half; J. Bradbury (Hovers), centre half; W.\ Jackson (Ranibjcrs),.--left; half; H. Smallbone (Ramblers), ' right wing; C. Vessey (Swifts), inside right; W. Gibson (Rovers), centre forward; A. Mouat '(Olympic)j inside left;' E:' Timperley (Y.M.C.A.), outside'left; Resorvos; J. Pyc-Suiith (Swifts),'back;R. Paget (Ramblers), 'half; C. O'Shoa (Hearts) and Trevithick (Ramblers). Team to meet at Y.M.C.A. room at 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening next. A letter received from the Otago Association states that the southern combination is an exceptionally strong one, so that a good game should result. The team will arrive in Wellington on Friday morning next, and consists of the following players :—Goal, Knowles;. backs, Aspinal), Mayhcw; half-backs, Elliott, Garnctt, Young; forwards, Forbes, Ritchie,' Baillie, Chadwick, Evans. Extra players; Cameron, Morion, and Gardner. FOR 30Y SCOUTS. An Association football competition on cup-tio lines has been arranged between the different' Boy Scouts com-' panics for- a banner presented by Mr. T. Shields, one of the vice-presidents of the Wellington Football Association. About eight entries are expected, and tho matches will probably begin on August 27.
