P.W.C. Society. A meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held in tho society's rooms yesterday afternoon, with Mrs. C. Izard presiding. There-were present Mrs. Ponsonby, Mrs. Cilasson, Mrs. M'Gavin, Mrs. Glover, Mrs. Holgate,. and Miss E. B. Brown. ' A number of cases that bad been investigated, wero partly settled, and a case of -alleged neglect of children is to ho inquired into, as well as one in which an aged person is said to be without proper means or oare. On Thursday evening the inmates of the Ohiro Homo were given a very pleasant entertainment by members of tho "LadyPluuket Centre" of the Girls' Realm Guild. Tho following contributed items to tho programmo:—Misses E. Hurley, V. Mueller; A. Baker, and M. Lowe. Miss E. acted as accompanist. They were assisted by Mr. Truebridgo and the Misses Traebridge. Tho entertainment was much appreciated, and at the close the whole audience joined in singing the National Anthem. Miss Dorothy Nicoll, of Ashburton,. is the guest of Mrs. Shirtcliffe, in Tinakori Rpad. Mrs. Yallance, of Kahumingi, is visiting Wellington, and her sister, Mrs. T.
