The British Embassy recently protested against the action of the Russian Minister for •' Commerce in questioning the right of.companies with twelve millions sterling of British capital to acquire working rights on the Maikop oilfields in' Caucasia., : .' In consenuenco of the remonstrances, tho Russian Minister for Commerce (M. Timashcff) has withdrawn the restrictions on foreign capital, ond substitute's therefor the suggestion that somo of the directors, of foreign oil-mining companies should be Russian subjects.
