LINDRUM AGAIN BEATS ROBERTS. According te the . latest "Sydney Referee," the story of the second meeting of Roberts' and Lindrum was a revised edition of the Melbourne game—Lindrum off-colour at the start, Roberts going 'strong. At halfway it appeared that Roberts would shako Lindrum up, but as "tho pace of the table increased, Lindrum gained • confidence, and towards the end had regained, the form that characterised his runaway performance in Melbourne. On Wednesday Roberts was at his best,, with the splendid aggregate of 1890 and high-class breaks of 500, 274, 2JG, 203, 162, and 103; and were it not for the little waits in between might have wiped off his deficit. When Lindrum started working the red on Thursday for the first time during tho game the fact dawned on Roberts that ho was in for another defeat. Lindrura scored 1250 to 871-that 'day, and continuing an unfinished run to 342 on Friday afternoon, reaching his points with an average of 150 for the session, he put on the closure, for despite a.Tun of 313 at night by Roberts, tho A'.'Stralian scored 1250 to 719; and that was how Roberts was beaten by 2307 points. BOXING. CHAMPION HAS A CLOSE CALL. There will be no contest for thei lightweight championship of the world for somo time now,, says "Boxing," and both MiFarland and Welsh can arrango for a fourth meeting at their leisure, as Wolgast will not be ready for either of them for some time. Tho champion took part in his first match since winning the title against Jack Redmond at Milwaukee on Juno 10. Ho started well, and was scoring fast, but injured his left arm in the foilrth round against Redmond's elbow, and snapped a bone in the forearm in the seventh. After this he was almost helpless, and Redmond might havo got a knock-out had ho possessed tho necessary power. The newspapers gave their verdict te Wolgast, as he was. leading well up te the time of -his accident.
