The Prime Minister has also cabled congratu- ■ lations to Lord Stmthcona on the achievement oFhis ninetieth birthday. Among the visitors to Wellington, and at present staying at the Occidental Hotel, are Mr. G. Nash, Mayor of I'alinerston North, Mr.Mailland, Mayor.of Picton, and Messrs. Mowlem, Malcolm, Edic, and Hundly, from Palmcrston North. Mr. H. N. Holmes, who is the Wellington representative for Dr. Henry, has received the following telegram from tho mission party at Gisborne, where a United Mission/was commenced last Saturday:— "Safe arrival, royal welcome, enormous meetings, and many decisions."
