MEN'S BROTHERHOOD.
A ,well-attended meeting 'of. tlie Wei lington City ilen's Brotherhood avas held oa Thursday evening at the Herbert St. Hall, the lie v. 13. 0. Blamires occupying the chair. In his introductory remarks,. Mr. Blaraires congratulated the preparatory committees on. the splendid attendances and excellent work. Byery member of the Constitution Committee had been present. at its meeting, and the constitution submitted that evening was the out* come.
The constitution was then read by Mr, ,• Jordan,' and unanimously adopted:—.m The principles of the organisation are thus stated:—"The broadest Christian' platform is the platform of the Brother- i, hood. The Fatherhood of God, the / Divinity of Christ, and the brotherhood, of man, are essential principles of the - movement, and every man is recognised as, actually or potentially,, a. Christian brother, witli the right to individuality " of opinions and convictions, coexistent . with fundamental: unity of spirit ill- pro- ', moting the objects of the movement.".;, The objects of the-Brotherhood are ; given as follow-.—To foster; the spirit of ■ Christian brotherhood among the men. ~ of Wellington, to lead - the strong to help the weak, to promote thrift, encourage 'pure literature, assist all movements for true social aiid moral reform, and, 1 in' every - way possible help in the mak- ' ing of the 'new Wellington.'" ■ The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Rev. ' : ' It was decided to call a meeting 66 1 all interested in the formation of a male, choir for Brotherhood meetings for Tuesday evening next. In. conclusion, the chairman announced that the opening public meeting of the Brotherhood would be held on Sunday afternoon, August) 21, in the King's ■' Theatre. The Hon. G. Fowlds will occupy the chair, and addresses will be delivered by Messrs. F. 11. B. Fisher and . E. A. Wright, M.P.'s. ' '
