: Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held a most succcssful sale at their Upper Jiutt yards yesterday on account of iUr. W. A. Cottle. A good yarding of cattle cauie forward, which met with keen competition. Messrs. Balgety and Co., Ltd., reporthaving held their fortnightly stock sale at Eketahuna yesterday. Tho report states:—Wc submitted an average yarding to a large attendance. For all classes or sheep bidding was 1 slacker than at last sale, but anything showing any quality sold well. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report that, at W'estfteld yards this .week, dairy cows close to prolit sold at from £7 lte. to £10 Ss.; others, £3 15s. to £6 10s.; empty cowb, £2 2s. to £3 155.; eighteen-month steers, .£3 145.; calves, £1 12s. At the Durham yards, horses were yarded in average numbers, and sold at rate rates., Heavy draught horse 3 sold at from £30 to £42; medium do., £18 10s. to £23; light ,harness liorscs and hacks, £5 to £12 10s.; ponies, £1 10s. to £5; gig, £8 10s.; spring cart, £10. . Messrs. Ilueliland and Rons report that, at Wcstlield fat stocli market this week there were 337 fat cattlo yarded, ami nearly all were of first-class quality. In some instances last, week's value.s were sustained, but, generally, prices were a shade easier. Ox beef, £t 3s. to £1 <Is, pericolb.; cow and lieifer, 10s. to £1 3s. per 100IU.; steers brought from £6 10s. to '£14 55.; cows and heifers, £3 15s. to £10 15s. A truck of cows from Mr. Win. freely, especially medium well-done sorts. Heavy, £2 lCs. to £2 175.; medium, £1 10s. to £2 25.; smaller, 15s, to £1 75.; .freshdropped, 2s. to 21s. Tho sheep pens were JTull, filled with a good class of mutton. Wethers formed the greater portion of pie yarding, and several lines of these were extra heavy and of prime quality. The demand was not so strong as at late salos, and prices were inclined to weaken, although prime sheep sold well up to recent quotations.
