"CASTE."
Miss Harding©'Maltby's company of amateurs,'who will, perforin, A. AV. Robertson's comedy, "Caste," at the Opera) House on August 15, .16, and 17, give every promise, of acquitting themselves well.. The leading character, Eccles,' will bo played by Mr. W. I'. Bastin, who did good work in past years as a member, of the Amateur Operatic Society. Amongst more recent performances, Mr.. Bast-in's Dick. Phenyl, in "Sweet Lavender," was.evidence of,-his capacity as a. comedian. Miss Stella Putnam will take the part of Polly. She makes her first public appearance on this occasion, and the character of Esther will bo taken' by' Miss Hardinge Maltby. The other . members of the company are all well known. On t-lio first evening 1 "Caste" only Will bo played; but on the two following evenings it will be preceded sn originar one-act plav, ' "i'iic Laughter Bure-au," in which the various characters will be sustained by Miss Amy Kane, Miss Gladys Meadowcroft, Miss Alice Rawson., and "Miss Muriel Wylie. '
