IN THE DEFENCE FORGES. The following announcements with reference to appointments and promotions in the New Zealand Territorial Force appear in this week's Gazette: — New Zealand Medical Corps—James Sands Elliott, and Albert Henderson, Mil)., to be captains. St. Vincent Rifle Cadets —The Rev. Charles Joseph Venning to be honorary chaplain. D Battery—Henry Esau Avery, to bo lieutenant. Wellington Guards—Reginald Langdale. Evatt, to be lieutenant. Johnsonville Rifles —Stephen Glanville Cowles, to be lieutenant. Fourth Wellington Rifle Battalion (Taranaki) — Captain Felix Templeman Bellinger, to be major. Active' List (unattached)— Captain Edward Page, to be major; Frank Archdall Raymond, to be captain. WELLINGTON TROOPS. According to the official return for July the strength of the Wellington Battery Field Artillery is now 157;' Garrison Artillery, ' 278; Engineers, 89; Rifle Battalion, 632; Field Ambulance Corps, 68.
