COLLEGE RIFLES.

ANNUAL EEUNION. The annual reunion of the College Rifles Co'mnauy of the First Wellington Battalion was held at the Hall last evening. The function was a most successful one in every'way. Captain C. Harcourt Turner (officer commanding tho company) presided, and there were also present, among the visitors, Colonel R. J. Collins, V.D., 1.5.0., Colonel J. E. Purdy (Director-General of Medical Services), Major C. D. Mackintosh, and Captain J. A. Cowles, of tho battalion staff, Captain S. V. Trask (headquarters staff), and officers of the battalion. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Lieut. T Cqlonel W..'G. Duthie (O.C. battalion), Major A. de B. Brandon .(formerly officer commanding the corps), and others. ' ■ »

The toasts included "Colonel Collins" (proposed by the chairman), "Life and Old Members" (proposed by Lieut. Hutcheh), "Tiie Battalion Staff" (proposed by Lieut. Mee), and "The Visitors" (proposed by Sergt. J. R. Cowles). songs, recitations, and reminiscent yarns- were contributed by' Colonel. Collins, Colons Purdy, Lieut. Mee, Lieut. Wilkinson, Private M'William, and Messrs. J. Dykes, and, D. Kenney. During the evening, the chairman, in a felicitous speech, presented Colonel Purdy with a handsome- silver pince-nez case as a mark of. esteem and goodfellowship, on the occasion of his silver wedding. Lieut. E. Evatt (of the Wellington Guards), for manj , years coloursergeant of the College Rifles, was also presented with an officer's sword, suitably engraved, from his old comrades, in honour of his promotion to commissioned rank. Colour-sergeant Pelton -made the presentation, which was an exceedingly popular one. A feature ■of the. musical programme was the excellent gramaphone reproductions of numbers by the famous Sldme. Tetrazzini, and Signors Caruso and Scotti.
