KING EDWARD MEMORIAL.
BRITISH PROPOSALS. By Telegraph—Press Associatlon-Oopyrisht. (R«c. August 3. 9.10 p.m.) London, August 3. The Prime Minister, Mr. Asauith, in a letter to the Lord Mayor of London, stated that the Government had considered the various schemes put forward for tho commemoration of King Edward, and was of opinion that local memorials wero more suitable than a national. one. Ho suggested that each county's large city should decide on the type' .of memorial, according to local conditions.
Mr. .Asquith also suggested that tho Lord Mayor should inaugurate a fund for a London memorial. The Lord Mayor has complied with the suggestion.
