EAST COAST RAILWAY.

The complaint made by the Hastings Chamber of Commerce that the .East Coast railway, between Crisborne, Napier, and Wnihi, was not being pushed on fast enough, was brought under the notice of the Minister for Public Works (tho Hon. R. M'Kenzie) by a Dominion representative. 11 r. M'Kenzie stated that lie could not anticipate the Public Works Estimates. Asked what prospect there was of the line being started at tho Waihi end, Mr. M'Kenzie said that would not be for some time—not this year at least.
