There is a fair quantity of wheat offering, but it is' mostly sprouted, and is unsaleable at the prices asked. There is,. therefore, practically no business doing, and -the only demand is for prime unweathered i samples, and especially for pearl, .but very little of this quality is npw coming forward. There is some export business doing with, the "United Kingdom by direct steamers, the shipments consisting of grain purchased prior to the recent rise in prices. There is rather more inquiry for oats at the lower prices now ruling, but offerings are very scarce. A good quantity! but mostly' in small lots, is being shipped coastwise, and, from the Bluff, shipments aro being made to the United Kingdom. ChaE is rather firmer, as supplies aro getting short owing to the long spell o£ wet weather preventing cutting. The change to line weather is, however, expected to bring further supplies forward. The ruling price is 655. at country stations. Potatoes a-re. firm at £5 10s. at country stations, though the demand is not very active,. :
