RIFLE CLUB.
A meeting of the, proposed new rifle club was held in the Garrison Hall, Buckle Street, on Monday evening,. at 8 o'clock, Mr. W. M. Jackson, senr., in the chair. Twenty-five intending members were present. The chairman explained the objects of rifle clubs in peace or war. It was decided that the name of the club should be the Wellington Suburbs Defence Bifle Club. Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P., was unanimously elected patron, and Mr. W. M. Jackson, senr., was unanimously elected president. The secretary referred to Mr. Jackson's past services to Iho country as a volunteer, which extends over 33 years, and wished him every success. . The following gentlemen' were elected to the position of vicepresidents:—Messrs. Wilford, Herdnian, Fisher, Wright And Field, M.P.'s, G. Winder, G. Humphries, F. H. Pitcher, J. Murphy, TV. .H. P. Barber, L. Humphries, H. Price,' senr., A. V. Knapp, C. Tandey, H. Wrigley, A. L. Cooper, A..Fullford, George and George. Mr. W. G. Fellingham was elected secretary. The election of treasurer and other officers was held over until next meeting. The club's range is to bo at Miramar. The application form to. the Government for acceptance as a Rifle Club now contains 30 names. \ •
