Harkness, secretary of the National Dairy Association, were in Palmerston to-day. Both have returned to Wellington. Owing-to tho death of Mr. J. Horrax, of Karori, who "had been i appointed to judge the collies, at'the New Zealand Kennel ■: Club's show, which is held at tho Manawatu A. and. P. Society's spring fixture,.other arrangements-for the.judging havo had to bo made; Mr. S. .Johnson,',of .Palmerston, will now judge the collie and , spaniel classes,: Mrs. Johnson will award the cards for bull dogs and toy breeds, and' Mr. Hutchison, of Auckland,, will officiate in regard to terriers and several .other classes. . : , ■• . On a", creditor's petition, Mary Andeline Cave, of Eongotea, has been adjudicated a bankrupt. . , , . ...... Messrs. F. J.: Nathan, Jas. Young, and W. Fisher have been appointed assessors to represent the' employers when the dispute between the fiutter and ■•< Cheese Workers' Union and the employers comes before the Conciliation Commissioner. No date has yet been fixed for the meeting., . ■ .: , In the Police .Court io-day, before Mr. A. D. Thomson, S.M., W. Wood and W. Campbell were, each fined for breaches of tho by-laws, viz., riding-a bicycle and driving .a vehiclo respectively without lights... C.'W. Blackbourn nleaded guilty to a breach of an Arbitration Court award in not keeping a' proper wages book_and not paying-wages weekly,, and was fined 20s. and costs on' each' charge R. Robinson; J. Barrell, and J. Marlow were each fined 10s.. and costs for disorderly behaviour-in tho Square on July 21. W. Foster and W, Saunders pleaded guilty to breaches of the Kairanga County by-laws, in carrying heavy loads on narrow-tyred vehicles, and were fined 10s. and costs each. A youth.named W. R.. Munro pleaded guilty to a charge- of forging the narna of J. B. Brown to a cheque for £i Gs/' on the Palmerston branch of the Bank of New South Wales and was remanded to the Wellington Supreme Court foiv sentence.
