Tho Government has now • accepted the French tender for practically the whole amount, rejecting an equally favourable British tender. This is in con--sequence of its desire to facilitate the raising of the .£10,000,000 loan, which the. French Government recently, refused on tho ground that the Turkish Minister of Fiuanco had not guaranteed French industry a legitimate sharo in the orders to be paid out of the loan.
