Tho Southern Collieries' Wages Board has given its award in tho dispute between tho Miners'. Association and. tho employers. >, .' .•' < ,■ ■< '• ... Amongst tho men's demands conceded are eight hours' bank-to-bank for miners,and preference to unionists. Other.concessions are made in regard to cavilling, working. machines, and payment for pillars and slabs: For mini) labour other, than that of ihc miners, the award secures a reduction in tho hours; of work to nino from bank-to-bank, and a slight increase in wages. The President of tho Coalmines 'Employees' : Association says tho 'award" is very satisfactory. Tho men have not got all they wanted, but have secured a substantial improvement in their, conditions. ;■
