A 'hundred prisoners,' mostly brigands and smugglers, attempted. to escape from the Fuenti Santa Prison, Portugal. Comrades bribed the gaolers :to introduce, revolvers, files, and dynamite cartridges into, the prison. The explosion that took place brought tho Civil Guard to the scene. There was a stubborn fight, in which twenty prisoner* were wounded. Nine escaped, but tho. rest were recaptured after fire-hose had been brought into use. ■' .
