'DOWN TO FOOTBALL'S LEVEL."
THE DIGNITY OF BOWLS. ( v Without indicating what the 'level" of footballwas, or stating which particular brand of winter strenuousness he referred to, the president of the Wellington Bowling Centre (Mr. W." J. Hueston) last night summed up a. certain proposal which he objected to as "bringing bowling down altogether to the level of ordinary 'football." .- . At a meeting' of tho centre, Clause 10 of the proposed new constitution of the Northern Bowling Association was under discussion. Tho clause provides for the banning from all affiliated clubs of , members who are "unfinancial" with any club'which comes under the control, of the association. ■ Two speakers favoured the idea, one laying down tho doctrine of "no pay, no play.". ■.■-■■ . . ' But' the majority were enemies of Clause 10. According to one of tho objectors, it would be making some official a debt-collector for another club. '■ The chairman was the most positive in his"remarks. "That No, 10 Clause," he said, ; "is against my grain altogether.. I cannot swallow it' at. all. It is bringing bowling down to 'the level of ordinary football."
