PUBLIC HEALTH VERSUS PUBLIC SAFETY.
Sir, —I have read with considerable interest F. T. Moore's notice of motion regarding city refuse and pig-feed-ing. His interest in the public health ih well knon-U, but surely tlie worthy gentleman must know that the Governstamp on the dressed carcass is sufficient guarantee. So much for the public health. Now for public safety. Ho is chairman of the. Makara Uountv Council, and if lie finds time hancs heavy on 'his hands, he might cast his wakeful eye along the Ngahauranga Gorge Road He would find a useful field for his activity. Since May deputations, armed with petitions praying for the removal of the traction engine's from the Gorge Road, have so far been unsuccessful. . How long will he keep them in utter disregard of their safety? If F. T. Moore would kindly mind the business he was. elected for, leaving the Health Department' to manage its own affairs which it is quite competent to dp-—I "am,' etc., -v
