A PLATFORM WANTED.

' Sir,—lt is with..disgust I read that our Primo Minister contemplates another jaunt to tho Old Country next year. 'Phis time to tho coronation! Several queries enter my mind, foremost being:— (1) Will King Gcorgo think New Zealand is .disloyal if wo are only represented by-our High ■ Commissioner in London ? v (2) Do the people in New Zealand think our High Commissioner could worthily uphold the '-Dominion's dignity'? (3) Can the Dominion afford to pay the expenses incurred over theso too frequent trips ? I am afraid I cculd ask a dozen moro questions that would all ho answered by mo against the Prime Minister going, and I look to you to use tho power at your command to stop , this contemplated extravagance I am as loyal a subject of King George's as can be found, but-1 am not ashamed to enter my protest against sending special delegates all the way from our shores for one day's ceremony. Talking of the last tour, do you remember those magnificent arrangements made in London to borrow ■ money at 3J por cent, for public bodies? I may be a little behind tho times, but I have •looked for more particulars and the only explanation I liave so far received is that the money is coming from' our post office deposits, where 34- per cent, interest is allowed. To pay the expenses of management, all tho sinking funds of the colony are to be seized for 3J per cent., causing a loss of many thousands por annum to those public, bodies who have invested their sinking funds from 4J per cent, to 5i per' cent.

Verily, 'tis time we had a change, and bring about a cleaner state of politics.—l am, etc., . HONEST LIBERAL.
