The empty clock tower of the Town Rail has been the source of au inspiration to ..an enterprising firm of. drug manufacturers, the pronrietors of Kenzie's fopso.. They have offered the City Council ,£59 per annum for tho privilege of displaying in the. four spaces of the clock tower their conviction that their particular patent medicine does all that is claimed for it. The council declined unanimously. A striking example of the use of the two Minimus machines which, were lately nished by the- fire at Andrews's Hotel, says the "Dannevirke Advocate of July 20. Upon the alarm being given, the two Minimav machines which were lately installed were seized upon by Mr. Lavelle and Mr. W. Bains, a boarder at the hotel. The machines were played upon the fire with splendid results,'although it was difficult to operate upon the seat of the fire, as it ■was in the lining of the chiinnev.
