Mr. Winchcombe, chairman of . tho Chamber of Commerce, at the annual meeting, referred to the question of preference. Ho stated that New 'South AValcs imported more than twice the .quantity from Britain than from all. other, countries combined, in'spite ■ of the fact that foreign countries *■ rock more of Now South Wales's exported goods than did Britain.
The total exports of manufactures by New South Wales last year was- over forty-two million pounds, and the wages paid to factory employees amounted to £7,600,000.
In conclusion, he stated that Australia was, generally, -riding on a- wave of prosperity. There was work for every willing worker. >
