POPULAEISING THE NEWTOWN MUSEUM... After, a short discussion- last evening, the City Council, upon the recommendation of its Libraries Committee, decided to appoint a Local Advisory Committee, ■ consisting of: Messrs. George Flux (headmaster South Wellington School), H. A. Parkinson (headmaster Newtown District High- School), Percy Muter, A, L. Eaylock, and the Rev. W. A. Evans, to assist in tho work uf advancing the interests of tho Xewtown Museum as an educational institution. The- function)} of this committee are to consult with and advise the Libraries Committee of tho council on the matters of: Specialisation of functions as required. Selection and classification of exhibits. Co-operation with the Public Schools in such manner as to make the museum of greatest educational value to the juvenile part of the population. Advertising and popularising of th< institution. Any other matter of special advantage to the institution and the public. The. powers of this committee, which is to have power to' add to its number, shall be recognised as advisory only. All decisions affecting administration and expense shall rest, as heretofore, with the Libraries Committee and the council.
