GENERAL ORDERS.
General Orders by the New Zealand Council of Defence, issued last evening, include the following'announcements:— Mrs. Janet Gillies, matrou-.in-cb.icf of the Now Zealand.Medical Corps Nursing Keserve, has resigned her appointment. Lieut.-Colonel J. E. Hawkins, commanding tho Canterbury Military District, ■ has been granted s '°k leavo till September 15. with permission to bo absent from New Zealand. • ■ The undernxaitioned officers, having passed an examination under the Central Board/of Military Examination, have been granted certificates for tho rank of captain-.-Lieut. P. W. Skelley, D. Batterv, New Zealand Field Artillery; Lieut/J. G. Rc-ache, Wellington Guards Rifles i Lieut. J. W. Hutchon, College Rifles (Wellington); Lient. W. H: Gibb, No. 2 Company, New Zealand Nativo Rifles; Lieut. S. A. Atkinson and Lieut. J. L. Short, Victoria College Officers Training Corps. Certificates of rank (lieutenant) hare also been granted to Acting-Lieutenants H. E. G. Smith (Whangaroi Senior Cadets), and W. A. G. Penlington (Gisborno Senior Cadets).
Messrs. G. C. Parker, Auckland Garrison Artillery,. C F. E. Barton, Bafflan Mounted Rifles, A. -E. 3?enr, TVaikato Mounted Rifles, and A. C. Crimp, Green Island Rifles, have btcn appointed actinglieutenants in tlreir respective corps.
