NEW WHOLESALE FIRM ESTAB-, LISHED. Messrs. D. Benjamin aiid Co., who, at the beginning of tho year, closed .their business. in Wellington, and disposed of the whole of their stock in New Zealand to a Melbourne syndicate, have now sold their premises in Jervois Quay to . Messrs" M'Eldowney Bros. The premises comprise two three-storied- premises, with, a threestoried annexe, standing on two sections, held on perpetual lease from the city corporation, and adjoining the premises of tho Wellington' Woollen Company. Tlio prkje paid is a satisfactory ono, arid Messrs. M'Eldowney Bros, will enter into immediate possession. On Friday last Mr. Alex. M'Eldowney left by the Sydney boat en route to England to make tho necessary purchases, and to forward samples ready for the firm to commence business as, warehousemen and wholesale merchants on January 1, 1911. Mr. Alex. M'Eldowney was for 22 years in the wholesale department of Messrs. Sargood, Son and Ewen. Mr. Jacob M'Eldowney, another of the partners, was for nine years with Messrs. Maeky, Logan, Steen, and Caldwell's Wellington house, and previous to that was sixteen years in tho retail trade in Wellington. Another brother, Mr. ■ John .M'Eldowney, for many years iri business in Marton and Rangitikei,- is at present in London, and will probably join the firm as another partner. Negotiations for tho sale and purchase of Messrs. D. Benjamin and Co.'s promises were conducted by Messrs. Har--1 court and Co., who recently adver- [ tiscd the premises for sale by auction in our columns.
