ART CLUB "AT HOME."
A pleasant little "at home" was given at the Art Club on Saturday afternoon by the President (Mr. Bayward). Tho gathering took the form of a coiiversazioue. interspersed with music supplied by a string band, under the direction ol' Mr. M'Loughlin, and was enlivened by a. number of amusing catch competitions. In these the guests were asked to elucidate the names of famous painters from hastily-drawn sketches. For instance, a policeman on his beat represented Constable. and with threo stripes upon his arm the artist becjimo Sargent. A person boarding a moving train'was recognised a* Leightou (late-onj. A dainty 'afternoon tea was served. Among those present was the Hon. Dr. Findlay. Upon the termination of the sketch exhibition now proceeding, the club will hold a scries of shows of pictures by individual artists. In succession (hero will bo. exhibitions of the work of tho deceased North Island artists, Messrs. 'John Gully, Nairn and Richmond.
