The inquiry regarding the loss of. the French submarine Pluviose indicates that a fire had occurred, owing to a short circuit, before tho collision. The crew were asphyxiated, not drowned. Tho Pluviose was probably not under control at tho moment of thn collision.

The Pluviose was sunk near Calais on May 26, after collision with a French mail steamer, und her crew of 27 were lost.
