_ hO : • • ■ MR. LLOYD-GEORGE IN REPLY. By Telegraph—Press -A ssociation—CoD.vrighi. ■ (Rec, July 22, 11.5 p.m.) London, July 22. Mr. Lloyd-George, Chancellor of tho Exchequer; has issued a reply to tho request made by the deputation of company representatives, headed by Sir Edward'Sassoon, which on July 19 asked for an alteration \6f the law so as to. do away with the double taxation of the incomes of companies on which income tax has already been paid in the overseas Dominions. Tho Chancellor states that to grant the concession asked for would mean a tremendous inroad on the Treasury. Tho whole question was whether the Motherland could.surrender tho tax until an arrangement had been concluded. He thought it hard that England should bo asked to surrender her right. After maintaining the possibility of an understanding with New Zealand and India, Mr. Lloyd-Georgo suggested that an attempt to arrive at an arrangement might be made at tlie Imperial Conference.
