"A RETROGRADE STEP." By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrielil . (Rec. July 22, 9.45 p.m.) Sydney, July 22. At tho half-yearly meeting of the Commercial Banking Company, the chairman referred to tho proposed Federal ■ note issue, and said tho directors considered that this was a retrograde movement, as it was against the evidence of the financial experts of all countries. Their bank, however, would not suffer in its profits, as it would be saved tho cost of tho notes and the two per centum note tax now paid.
