'l'he ■•deceased lady arrived in the Colony.in the ship .London in. 1810. ..She was married in ISI6 in "Wellington to Captain Bolmiion; and they shortly afterwards took up their residence at Foxton, where Mrs. Robinson's genial nature'and kindly disposition won ail hearts. She was the soul of hospitality, and 111 the early days had the pleasure of entertaining many distinguished guests, including Lord Cecil as he was then, afterwards the Marquis of Salisbury (late Prime Minis,er of England), Sir George Grey, Bishop Hadfield, and Sir Donalu M'Lean. She was Si years of age, f and lived practically the whole of her life at Herrington. For the past two or three years' tlie deceased lady had not been in the best of health. Of her eleven children, eight survive her, five . sons, and three daughters, the sons are Messrs. Francis, James, John, Charles, and Octavius Robinson,' and the daughters are Mrs.: Thynne', wife.of the late Mr. F. The Misses Baber : and Richmond have taken the house No. 32 Fitzherbert Terrace to accommodate the increasing number of boarders and day girls. The. ground floor of this house is being given up t'o class-rooms for the lojver school and kindergarten. , Mrs. Milne, who, has been spending threo or four weeks in Sydney, returned by the Sydney boat, on Wednesday and will be leaving'for her home in Masterton on Saturday., . Mr. and Mrs. ■ J." Ewart are returning to Masterton to-day: Mrs. Jack Rose gave a large tea at her home a.t,the llutt for her sister, Mrs. V. Boughtomfrom Auckland,,when among the guests were' a. number who had gone out from town. •'.... : After hearing accounts of the weather that Sydney people are. enjoying, or rather, have been enjoying till ; -th« last few days, one's heart is filled with envy of their good. fortune. Warm sunny days which they are able to enjoy to the full by picnicing on green shady lawns .or upon the river banks have been their lot, while in Sydney sweet peas and roses were simply rioting in the gardens. In front of the Post Office quantities of. violets and spring bulbs were being sold daily for almost nothing. To a . New Zealander the flowers were almost overwhelming in their 'profusion, but in- Sydney it was considered, so far, to be rather a poor year for them. "IDne cannot help thinking, however, when reading of the stormy visitor that descended upon them the other day. that there is something to be said for. the, New Zealand climate after all.
