NAVAL MANOEUVRES.
BRITISH INYADERS : DEFEATED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. London, July 19. The naval manoeuvres ended after a huge cordon had surrounded the hostile fleet, -which was supposed to. be endeavouring to effect a landing on the northwest coast of Ireland. The invading fleet was defeated, losing sixteen battleships, and all its cruisers being destroyed, as well as several transports. The defenders' loss was thirteen battleships and several destroyers.
A force of record strength was to be employed in the British naval manouvres this year, The exercises were confined almost'wholly to the Atlantic, which has been deserted of late years for the North Sea. A total of about 300 ships was to be engaged, inoluding 39 battleships and 25 armoured cruisers.
