FEATHERSTON NOTES.

A series of accidents befell a shooting party (accompanied by two children) on Sunday afternoon. Tlioy hired a horse and gig from a local livery stable-keeper and proceeded up tho Itimutaka. All went woll till returning home, when they wero met by a motor-cycle, at which tho horse shied and overturned the trap, throwing them all violently to the ground. One of the adults received a dislocated shoulder, the other a sprained ankle; one little child a sprained elbow, and tho other a general shakiug-up, with abrasions. As if this was not. excitement enough for tho one day, a further trouble was experienced. The children -were carried to their homo which, fortunately, was not far away, and tho two adults drove the horse down the hill, where one of tho party got out, and the other proceeded to take the horse back to the stables, but he had hardly'started when the horse ran away and tore down the street. After going some considerable distance the driver thought that it was time to get out, so he let go the reins, and got out at tho back of the trap, with the result that he came heavily to the ground, taking more skin otf his face and getting a very severe shaking-up. The horse, freed from control, endeavoured to go across a narrow ioot-bridge, with the result that the horse got across,'but not the trap, which was overturned into tlio creelc. The horse was eventually recaptured some two miles away.. He was nono the worse for his escapade, and strangely enough the trap was not. curiously damaged in spite of its two upsets.
