SUPREME COURT. CONTRACTOR AND COUNTY COUNCIL. BRIDGE-BTJILDING CLAIM. ■ Tho Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) heard argument on Saturday m the easo in which Maurice O'Connor, contractor, claimed from the Oroua County Council the sum of £1891 Is. Id., as balnnco due on a .bridge-building contract, and payment for extra work in connection with the same. The council counter-claimed £453, as penalties for delay in carrying out the contract. Tlio caso was before the Court last Monday, when evidence was taken. Mr. A. Gray and Mr. A. Fair appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr. A. L. Herdman for the defendant council. His Honour reserved his decision.
MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) At the Magistrate's Court on Saturday, Veronica Skidmore, on a charge of insobriety, was fined 55., with the option of 24 hours' imprisonment. A first offender, also charged with insobriety, was similarly dealt with.
