'superannuation board: A meeting of the Public Service Superannuation Board . was held on Thursday. Mr. Waldegrave, Uuder-Secre-tary for Justice, who had been appointed a member of the board to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Colonel It. J. Collins, 1.5.0., and Mr. J. W. Ellison, Inspector . of Police, recently elected as a member of the board to represent the police, took their soats and were - congratulated by the Hon. Mr. Buddo, who presided as chairman. Various matters connected with previous service which certain contributors were anxious to count towards their superannuation canio before the board, and were dealt with on their merits. In certain cases, especially where members of the Police Provident ' Fund (who had been merged into the Public Sen-ice Superannuation Fund) were not allowed privileges accorded to other members of the Public Service, the Government was asked to amend the Act so as to bring all .contributors to the fund into the same line. , The question of compensation payable to officers in the service who might die before retiring from the sen-ice was again brought before the board, and referred to the Government for reconsideration. The position of telegraph messongers was again considered by the board, and referred to the Government for a legal opinion. Various schedules of retiring allowances, refunds of contributions, and allowances to widows and children were passed by the board. ■
