. __ —{, : AN OPEN-AIR MEETING HELD. JUDGE SIM'S ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstohuroh, July 17. A meeting convened by the representatives of organised labour was held in Cathedral Square this afternoon to protest against the attitude of Mr. Justice Sira in the shearers' case. The speakers were Messrs. A. D. Hart, F. it. Cook, A. Patterson, J. Campbell, ■ and L, R. Wilson. All mnde strong statements imputing unfairness and prejudice on tne part" of the president of the Court and alleging that lie had prejudiced the shearers'- case, judging from the newspaper reports. The following motion was carried unanimously:—"That this meeting express its indignation and protest against the extraordinary action of Mr. Justice Sim in the recent shearers' dispute before the Arbitration Court, and .views with serious alarm his coercive attitude towards the union; also his prejudicing the case, judging from press 'reports, and also his most insisting references to the shearers' representative." Mr. Hart, who presided, and other speakers emphatically denied that the Shearers' Union had anything to 'do with promoting the meeting.
